STUD & TRACK
The Caledan Stud & Track Steel Frame System (SFS) is a recognised and proven solution for creating both external and internal walling across a wide variety of projects. From small residential schemes to large-scale public buildings, our system delivers a Rapid Dry Envelope (RDE) with clear advantages over traditional methods of construction.
Extending Your Possibilities
Our system uses precision-engineered cold-formed steel sections — ‘C’ studs and ‘U’ tracks — manufactured
up to 300mm wide and 3mm thick. The studs commonly span, (infill), vertically between horizontal tracks fixed to the primary structure (slab edges, beams, or columns).
Together, the studs and tracks form a robust non-loadbearing frame that provides a stable backing for cladding,
linings, insulation, and finishes. By transferring lateral forces such as wind pressure safely back to the primary structure, the system enhances the stability, performance, and longevity of the building envelope.
Infill vs Oversail - Choosing the Right System
When creating external wall framing for steel or concrete structures, the choice between infill and oversail systems can have a big impact on speed, cost, and thermal performance.
Infill Framing - Stud & Track
- Installed between the primary structural frame.
- Lightweight and easy to handle.

Oversail - Stud & Track
- Installed outside the primary structure.
- Provides a continuous external face for cladding.
- Useful for accommodating façade insulation or achieving specific architectural details.
- Slightly longer install times and may require additional fixings/brackets.
- May impose constraints on aperture positions such as windows etc.
